Briefly describe how the information in the two scenarios is interrelated.

Discussion – Week 6

As an accountant, it is important to know where to locate specific information within the financial statement that supports decision making. In order to do this, it is important to understand how the different sections of the financial statement relate to one another.

Review the two scenarios below. Based on this week’s readings, consider how you would respond to the question posed after each.

Scenario 1: As a loan officer for First Loans Bank, you have been approached by Custom Window Blinds (CWB). CWB needs to borrow money to purchase new state-of-the-art window-blind manufacturing equipment. As the loan officer, you need to view the company’s financial statements. What information/ratios should you, as the loan officer, use? Why?

Scenario 2: You are president of Custom Window Blinds, and business has been very good. You are thinking of expanding to a new location. In order to decide if this is something your company should do, you ask the controller of your company, Joe Beancounter, to do an analysis based on your current financial statements. What information/ratios should Joe use?

Based on your readings for this week:

  • Briefly describe how the information in the two scenarios is interrelated.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post a brief statement by Day 3 that expresses your thoughts on how the two given scenarios are interrelated. The length of your response(s) should be a minimum of 150 words.

Read a selection of your colleagues’ postings.

Respond by Day 5 to two or more of your colleagues’ postings in one or more of the following ways:

  • Ask a probing question.
  • Share an insight from having read your colleagues’ postings.
  • Offer and support an opinion.
  • Validate an idea with your own experience.
  • Make a suggestion.
  • Expand on your colleagues’ postings.

Return to this Discussion in a few days to read the responses to your initial posting. Note what you learned and the insights you gained as a result of the comments your colleagues made.

Be sure to support your work with specific citations from the Learning Resources and any additional sources.

How does medical parole or release fit into this discussion.

Describe 2 additional developmental materials or activities to address skill level or needs of the children.

This unit analyzes the different ways you can adapt the environment to meet the needs of the children in your class. When designing your environment, it is important to keep in mind the skills that the children in your group are learning and have mastered. The way you arrange your classroom, and the materials you fill it with can have a big impact on the kinds of play and learning opportunities you provide to your students.

For this Assignment, you will use the developmental milestone chart, unit readings, and four classroom models provided to analyze the physical design, developmentally appropriateness of materials, and need for adaptive materials for each age-level classroom model on the template located in Doc Sharing.

For each classroom model, you analyze the physical design and materials and then:

  1. Describe 2 additional developmental materials or activities to address skill level or needs of the children.
  2. Describe 2 changes you would make to the physical design of the classroom to promote optimal learning through play.
  3. Describe 2 adaptive materials or activities to address the needs of children with the following diverse needs:
    • 1-year-old infant who is not yet crawling
    • 2-year-old toddler who has difficulty with hand-eye coordination.
    • 4-year-old preschooler who needs sensory stimulation.
    • 6-year-old ESL learner (English as Second Language)

Suggest at least five (5) expected business benefits that Especially for You Jewelers company might derive from a new system.

Especially for You Jewelers is a small jewelry company in a college town. Over the last couple of years, it has experienced a tremendous increase in its business. However, its financial performance has not kept pace with its growth. The current system, which is partly manual and partly automated, doesn’t track accounts receivables sufficiently, and the company is finding it difficult to determine the reasons why the receivables are so high. The company runs frequent specials to attract customers but has no idea whether these efforts are profitable or if the benefit—if there is one—comes from associated sales. Especially for You Jewelers wants to increase repeat sales to its existing customers; thus, it needs to develop a customer database. It also wants to install a new direct sales and accounting system to help solve the outlined problems.

The new direct sales and accounting system for Especially for You Jewelers will be an important element in the growth and success of the jewelry company. The direct sales portion must track every sale, be able to link to the inventory system for cost data, and provide a daily profit and loss report. The customer database must be able to produce purchase histories to assist management in preparing special mailings and special sales to existing customers. Detailed credit balances and aged accounts for each customer would help to solve the problem with the high balance of accounts receivables. Special notice letters and credit history reports would help management reduce accounts receivable.

Write a six to eight (6-8) page paper in which you:

  1. Suggest at least five (5) expected business benefits that Especially for You Jewelers company might derive from a new system. Provide a rationale for your suggestions.
  2. Propose at least five (5) system capabilities for the company. Provide a rationale for your proposals.
  3. Ascertain the three (3) possible scenarios in this new direct sales and accounting system.
  4. Using Microsoft Visio or an open source alternative such as Dia, develop an activity diagram for each scenario that you have identified. Note: The graphically depicted solution may not exceed one (1) page per diagram. Provide a narrative that gives an overview of your diagram.
  5. Using Microsoft Visio or an open source alternative such as Dia, complete a fully-developed use case description for each scenario identified. Note: The graphically depicted solution may not exceed one (1) page per diagram.
  6. Develop a system vision document for Especially for You Jewelers, detailing the overall vision or plan for the new direct sales and accounting system. A vision document generally contains:
    1. Introduction
    2. Business needs / requirements
    3. Product / solution overview
    4. Major features
    5. Scope and limitations
    6. Other needs
  7. Use at least three (3) quality resources outside of the suggested resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.
  8. Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:·       Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, your name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
  9. ·       Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.

: Invention and Organization This weeks assignment is intended to help get you started on the persuasive essay we will be working on throughout the remainder of this course. Before getting started on this assignment, it might be beneficial for you to read the criteria for the Week Six Persuasive Essay. For this week, we will be practicing topic selection and outlining. Because this is preparation for next weeks persuasive essay, you will need to start by picking a topic that is persuasive. This topic must meet the following criteria: Arguable (are there at least two logical, yet opposite ways to look at the issue? Are there at least two sides?) Solvable (i.e. avoid religious, moral, or politically charged topics) Manageable (keep your topic focused and specific) Think of a specific problem or issue that you are interested in researching and writing an essay about. This issue should be argumentative in nature, so the topic that you choose should have an equally valid opposing viewpoint. An example of an appropriate topic would be this: A specific community is debating an ordinance banning the ownership of pit bulls. Some residents agree that pit bulls should be banned, while others disagree with this position (there is plenty of research to back up either side of the argument). Your job from there will be to explore the issue, look at both sides of the argument as completely as you can, and take a side. Your essay will be an attempt to convince others to join you in your decision. Directions Look up and read the following article in the EBSCOhost Database: Step-by-step through the writing process. (2007). Writing, 30. 1-8. (Note: You do not need to answer any of the questions from the reading in your assignment). Read and respond to EACH of the following questions and submit them and your outline in a single document (both parts must be completed). Part One: Topic Search For the first part of this assignment, consider the following three questions: What issue or problem would you like to write about? Choose a side. What is your view on the issue? What is the opposing view? What specific change might fix this issue? Then, freewrite for 10-15 minutes about the topic you have chosen. Share all of the reasons you can think of for why your problem needs to be fixed. Do not worry about grammar, spelling, or format. Do not edit. Write what comes to mind. Do not research yet. If you are stumped and cannot write what you know for 10-15 minutes, go back to #1 and start with a new topic. Part Two: The Outline Draft an informal outline for your upcoming persuasive paper. Do not include quotations or paraphrased material. Your outline should be built from your current knowledge of the topic. You can refine this later when you conduct your research. Basic Outline for a Five Paragraph Essay Introductory Paragraph (five to seven sentences that include a hook, background information, and a thesis) Body Paragraphs First Topic Sentence Supporting Point Supporting Point Supporting Point Second Topic Sentence Supporting Point Supporting Point Supporting Point Third Topic Sentence Supporting Point Supporting Point Supporting Point Closing paragraph (five to seven sentences that include a restatement of the thesis, summary of the main ideas, and a closing thought) If you are having trouble with your outline, the following link leads to a video that should
