Assignments Synthesis Worksheet: Doctoral Identity
Synthesis is the act of creating something new from multiple existing entities. Synthesis of research, then, is creating a new idea from existing ideas. This assignment is designed to help you identify how themes can emerge from reading literature and how you can synthesize this information in a way that creates new knowledge. You will use your understandings of the Topic 2 readings to complete a synthesis worksheet.

General Requirements:

This assignment will be used as a pre-writing activity for the synthesis paper in Topic 5.
Locate and download \”Synthesis Worksheet\” from the Course Materials for this topic.
Review the articles by Baker & Pifer (2011), Gardner (2009), and Smith & Hatmaker (2014) located in the Course Materials for this topic.
This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. Review the GCU APA Style Guide for Writing located in the Student Success Center.
Directions:

Complete the Synthesis Worksheet for the articles by Baker & Pifer (2011), Gardner (2009), and Smith & Hatmaker (2014). The completed worksheet will include the following sections:

An Introduction that introduces and provides context for the topic, presents three common themes that emerged from the readings, and provides organization for the paper with a thesis statement.
A description of the evidence to support three common themes that emerged from the articles. Since this is likely your first experience with this depth of synthesis, we have provided two of the themes found in the articles. Your task is to identify a third theme and to provide evidence from each article for all three common themes.
A conclusion where you will return to your thesis and provide evidence showing you successfully addressed your thesis statement. Discuss the connections that you made from the evidence and how each theme emerged from the central topic of doctoral identity.

Creative non-fiction is a form of writing that encourages us to use our own perceptions and experiences to explain something or explore an idea.

Overview

Example: The Creative Non-fiction essay is the first essay you will write for this course. Creative non-fiction is a form of writing that encourages us to use our own perceptions and experiences to explain something or explore an idea.

Use the free writing exercise in this Module to come up with a topic for your narrative. Choose one event that will be engaging for readers and will tell them something about you. Make sure to pick an event you are truly invested in. The more invested you are in your topic, the better your writing will be. Don\’t forget the details. Don\’t just catalogue a series of events. Your essay should focus on one event in time. For example, you could describe the moment that you received your High School diploma, but you should not describe your entire senior year. Keep in mind that the more sensory details you include, the more your reader will feel as though they are right there with you. Make your event come alive for the reader.

Make sure you consider carefully the implications of your narrative. One thing that distinguishes creative non-fiction from other sorts of narrative writing is that you\’re not only telling a story, but also reflecting upon it in some significant way. Don\’t tack a moral on the end. Instead, try to insert your own reflections on the events of the story throughout, moving back and forth between the offering of vivid details and a discussion of why those details are important to you and your reader. Why is this narrative topic important? Explain why.

MY TOPIC :1. The day I found veganism is the day I stopped withering away. There has always been a constant feeling of needing to be an ideal woman. There is a feeling of am I really here? because you feel isolated from friends, family, and society. Being anorexic leaves you feeling lonely. One particular day I was scrolling through social media envying beautiful, thin models and I came across this one girl you seemed so happy. She was fit and glowing and her lifestyle was vegan. Slowly, I began to switch my perspective on food and even my life. My journey has been more recent due to the fact I struggled with body image practically my whole life practically in high-school, but the road to recovery wouldnt have been possible without my new lifestyle.
**I will upload my original draft** I want the tone of my paper to be the tone of \”Dairy of a Teenage Girl-(reference)\”http://www.newyorker.com/culture/richard-brody/generic-teen-spirit
***You can exaggerate detail and make stuff up to make it sound better.I have a particular aversion to essays whose theme is devoted to a drunken escapade of some sort. Unless your story on this topic is particularly meaningful, I dont want to hear about it.
Be sure to begin with both an engaging title and hook sentence.

What is the meaning of architecture today and what does it mean in the future?Has the role of an architect changed?

this assignment is two parts the first part is the A3 the second is the report . There is example files to show what is an a3. For this order is the A3 will have template to fill.I\’ve attached the example files and the template. The 2nd part is the report.* the A3 is bsed on the ideas of the report. This is the description of the assignmentPart 1The A3 report is a system for implementing Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) management, which is simple yet disciplined and rigorous. The template fits on a single sheet of A3 (11×17 sheet) and documents the results of the PDCA cycle in summary form. It guides users through steps needed to determine the root causes of an organizations problems and to address them systematically. The report describes problems and available information so as to understand their ramifications quickly, focusing on improving processes and solving the problems. For the Final Assignment, use the A3 Template (blank) to capture your thoughts on “How the Industry can be better using Lean and Integrated Practices.” (3) sample A3 reports are included to help you understand the content needed. (part 1 = 100 points).A3 Template – blank.docxPreview the documentView in a new windowPart 2Presentation to the class on what you believe is the future of Architecture (Part 2 = 100 points)Things to consider when writing your report:How does Lean and Integrated Practice fit into the AECO industry? What makes it better? How does it change existing processes? What does it mean to collaborate and how has it changed from the way the industry used to collaborate? How has Integrated Project Delivery changed design and construction contracting? What does the workflow look like for current designers and what will it look like in the future? What is the meaning of architecture today and what does it mean in the future?Has the role of an architect changed? What was the role of an architect in the past and what does the future architect look like? What technologies are used currently and in the future, and why? “Things that do not provide value, seem to disappear.” If used right, new technology can bring great value to a process, but it is understanding the process first and then understanding the technology that can bring the most value. Is there a need to change an architect’s current workflows in order to benefit the design process?Do current architects design efficiently or are there other ways to bring more value to their design process? Maybe: Lean Methodologies, Integrated practice, BIM technologies.Have architects lost their sense of design due to BIM authoring software such as Revit by focusing too much on creating a model? What does the Architecture market look like? Are there lots of projects available to design? What types of projects are available? Educational? Healthcare? Hospitality? Transit? What effect does this have on architects? Is the architecture profession in decline or is it rising? And why?Why are architects leaving design firms to work for other industries (Contractors, owners, Hospitals, army core of engineers, airports, etc.)**** The A3 has a talk about the same topic as the report but that does not mean that you copy what you wrote in the repot to the A3.
