Measurement Task Force

In organizations today, the emphasis is on performance and the contribution of a function to the success of that organization. Senior managers demand evidence of effectiveness and efficiency. They need objective ways to measure achievement and strategically plan for the future. The heart of success at BANKS Industries is the HR department’s responsibility to guide managers in their ability to screen, hire, and retain quality employees.

As part of the BANKS management team, you have been assigned to a task force that is considering how the HR department should be strategically involved as the BANKS workforce becomes more diverse and experiences expansion, possibly into more countries. As part of a preliminary discussion, you have been asked to generate a report on the following issues:

  • What should be the basis of the HR department’s goals regarding their responsibilities to support management during the screening, hiring, and retention stages of employees?
  • How do these goals strategically align with success for BANKS?
  • How should the HR department interact with and implement these goals for management and employees?
  • How will you measure whether the HR department has been successful in achieving its goals? Based on your research, what assessments can be used to determine success?

Discuss how you would conduct an admission-seeking interview of the plant controller.

s the director of the internal auditing and fraud investigation departments for a large retail company that buys and sells large volumes of products, you have received an anonymous tip from a confidential employee in one of the high-tech warehouses. The confidential employee noted that there was a major embezzlement taking place in one of the divisions. Members of the internal audit department had completed a routine review of the internal control of that division the previous year, and they found that the control system was properly designed and operating effectively. Only minor recommendations were made, and the next review is due 3 years later.

The confidential employee noted the erratic behavior and lavish lifestyle of the warehouse controller and stated that the controller has been overriding existing controls, which would prevent any audit from being able to detect the embezzlement. The warehouse controller is well-respected and highly trusted by the chief executive officer (CEO) and the chief financial officer (CFO), and their families are involved in the same civic organizations. Investigating the plant controller could cause considerable disruption in the company and the personal lives of the employees.

Please answer 3 of the following questions. As you answer the questions, you must provide support or evidence that will enhance and empirically prove your answers. Academic criminal justice articles or real life criminal justice findings that are not found in journals or other academic sources must be used in supporting your answers. Please use APA style for all cited sources, including your resource page.

  • Given the situation, discuss some of the options that the company has for handling this situation.
  • Assuming you decide to investigate these allegations, describe the investigation steps.
  • In preparation for the interviews, note the order of the witnesses who would be interviewed and how you would plan, conduct, and document your interviews.
  • Discuss how you would conduct an admission-seeking interview of the plant controller.

Identify and briefly describe the key points of one of the major developmental theories and why you feel that theory is applicable to child and/or adolescent development.

Prior to completing this journal assignment, please read Modules 1and 2 in your textbook, view the “Endless Questions” video, and review any relevant Instructor Guidance. You may want to look specifically at the interactive media tools demonstrating information on theory which are provided in the Section 1.5 (within Module 1) of the textbook.

In a Journal entry of about 500 words, you will be addressing the role of theory and evidence – both scholarly and personal – and how they can be utilized in the classroom or other professional settings.

Begin by reflecting on the benefits and drawbacks of accepting advice from stories told by previous generations (i.e. “I did that with my kids and they turned out just fine.”).  For example, you may have heard a grandparent suggest that you put a bit of whiskey on an infant’s gums to help with teething. Describe your own thoughts about anecdotal advice such as this and explain why it may be true in some cases cases,  not in others.

Then, watch the Endless Questions video analyzing child development research and find one additional scholarly source of your choice (see tips and a link to tutorials below) and use it to reflect on and answer the following questions:

  • Why is it important to utilize developmental theory to explain children’s development?
  • Identify and briefly describe the key points of one of the major developmental theories and why you feel that theory is applicable to child and/or adolescent development.
  • What makes scholarly research different from anecdotal evidence (personal experience) in explaining child and adolescent development?  [Hint: Consider the methodology of the article you are reading.]
  • Finally, demonstrate the value of continued learning with a concluding reflection on why we should incorporate both personal experience and scholarly research or theory to help support any statements made in this class or any other professional setting.

You are required to utilize at least one (1) additional scholarly source not from this week’s required readings (including, but not limited to, the multimedia in the recommended resources for Week 1).  You must cite all of your sources (including the video embedded above) in proper APA style.  If you are unsure how to create an APA style reference page, please visit the Ashford Writing Center website. Aside from the video embedded in the prompt, you are to find one other scholarly through the Ashford Library website to help support your reflections in PART II.  View this great tutorial provided by the Ashford University Library which will show you how to find scholarly articles and how to assess the scholarly quality of the resource.

  • NOTE: As you are completing your searches in the library search engines, check the boxes in the search engines of the library for scholarly, peer-reviewed sources. This allows you to find resources that have been evaluated by a number of experts in the field and do not represent just one person’s opinion.

Identify the type of measurement instrument to be used to collect the raw numeric data to be statistically analyzed and the type of measurement data the instrument produces.

n your final paper for this course, you will need to write a Methods section that is about 3–4 pages long where you will assess and evaluate the methods and analysis of your proposed research.

In preparation for this particular section, answer the following questions thoroughly and provide justification/support. The more complete and detailed your answers for these questions, the better prepared you are to successfully write your final paper:

  • What is the problem being addressed by your research study?
  • State the refined research question and hypothesis (null and alternative).
  • What are your independent and dependent variables? What are their operational definitions?
  • Who will be included in your sample (i.e., inclusion and exclusion characteristics)?
  • How many participants will you have in your sample?
  • How will you recruit your sample?
  • Identify the type of measurement instrument to be used to collect the raw numeric data to be statistically analyzed and the type of measurement data the instrument produces.
  • What issues will you cover in the informed consent?
  • If there is potential risk or harm, how will you ensure the safety of all participants?
  • Name any possible threats to validity and steps that can be taken to minimize these threats.
  • What type of parametric or nonparametric inferential statistical process (correlation, difference, or effect) will you use in your proposed research? Why is this statistical test the best fit?
  • State an acceptable behavioral research alpha level you would use to fail to accept or fail to reject the stated null hypothesis and explain your choice.

This paper may be written in question-and-answer format rather than a flowing paper. Write your response in a 3- to 4-page Microsoft Word document.

All written assignments and responses should follow APA rules for attributing sources

Ensured that the incorporation and communication strategy for the vision statement is clear, detailed, well thought out and realistic.

Leaders today must be able to create a compelling vision for the organization. They also must be able to create an aligned strategy and then execute it. Visions have two parts, the envisioned future and the core values that support that vision of the future. The ability to create a compelling vision is the primary distinction between leadership and management. Leaders need to create a vision that will frame the decisions and behavior of the organization and keep it focused on the future while also delivering on the short-term goals.

To learn more about organizational vision statements, do an Internet search and review various vision statements.

In this assignment, you will consider yourself as a leader of an organization and write a vision statement and supporting values statement.

Select an organization of choice. This could be an organization that you are familiar with, or a fictitious organization. Then, respond to the following:

  • Provide the name and description of the organization. In the description, be sure to include the purpose of the organization, the products or services it provides, and the description of its customer base.

  • Describe the benefits and purpose for an organizational vision statement.
  • Develop a vision statement for this organization. When developing a vision statement, be mindful of the module readings and lecture materials.

  • Once you have developed the vision statement, describe how you would communicate the statement to the organizational stakeholders, that is, the owners, employees, vendors, and customers.
  • How would you incorporate the communication of the vision into the new employee on-boarding and ongoing training?

Write your response in approximately 3–5 pages in Microsoft Word. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.
