Explain which graph in our collection – A, B, C, or D – illustrates the shift that you identify by describing the change in price and the change in equilibrium quantity (remember the difference between a change in quantity and a change in the position of the curve – these are described in the documents linked above).

or this assignment you will find a news article (not a blog, not Wikipedia, not an opinion article, a news article) that describes a change in supply, demand or both in a real world market.  The learning objective is to understand how supply and demand impacts markets and prices.

  • Find a news article on the Internet that describes a shift in the supply curve or in the demand curve. The article must be recent (within the last six months), and MUST NOT be from an encyclopedia or reference website that discusses demand and supply. DO NOT use blogs.  Use well established business web sites or industry specific web sites.
  • The best articles are about changes in the price and/or sales of a particular product. You then have the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of supply and demand shifts as you explain the changes in price and quantity experienced by the product you choose.
  • Summarize the article. (Do not quote the article, but explain it as if you were telling someone about it. If you do use direct quotes or paraphrases, remember that citations and references are required.)
  • Explain which graph in our collection – A, B, C, or D – illustrates the shift that you identify by describing the change in price and the change in equilibrium quantity (remember the difference between a change in quantity and a change in the position of the curve – these are described in the documents linked above).
  • Some articles may describe a situation where both curves shift.  This is not common but it is possible.
  • Do use paragraphs in your post. And do remain focused on what is in the article.
  • Provide a full URL link to the article along with an APA-formatted reference to the article at the bottom of your submission.
  • Important: Do not choose an article discussing Macroeconomic issues: Inflation, unemployment, trade deficit, government budget deficit, etc.
  • MUST BE AT LEAST 250 WORDS.  THIS IS MICROECONOMICS CLASS

Analyzed the effectiveness of the questions and how the patient responded.

By Monday, February 8, 2016 complete the assignment presented below.

During the first week of class you conducted your first practice interview, and in week three you developed an Interview Guide. For this activity, you will be using your Interview Guide, the analysis of potential interview biases from LASA 1, and the feedback you have received from your instructor to conduct an interview with a volunteer.

Prior to the Interview

    1. Locate an adult volunteer.
    2. Read the analysis requirements below and ENSURE you meet them within your interview. Make sure your interview includes:
      1. A minimum of 5 open and 5 closed ended questions (10 total).
      2. A minimum of 5 examples of paraphrasing, summaries, or reflections techniques (must have at least one of each paraphrase, summary, and reflection/5 total).

  1. Gather Recording Equipment (video is preferred).  You will need to record your interview.
  2. Also make sure you have a watch or a timer to keep track of the length of your interview. Make sure your interview is not less than 5 minutes long.

The Interview

  1. Needs to be at least 5 minutes long, but it should not be more than 10 minutes.
  2. Be prepared! Although it may not sound like it, 5 minutes is a long time in interviewing time. If you are having problems filling 5 minutes, go back to the interview skills you have learned about (e.g., probing, reflections, and summaries).

After the Interview

    1. Play back the recording of the interview.
    2. Transcribe or write out the interview completely. Be sure to write outeverything said during the interview
    3. After you have written the transcript of the interview, provide a detailed analysis of the interview. On your transcript:
      1. Identify Questions Used: On your transcript identify at least 5 closed and 5 open ended questions that you used during the interview. Identify these on your transcript using all caps (10 questions total).

        For example:

Interviewer:  How long have you been having headaches?  CLOSED QUESTION

      1. Evaluate the Questions: After you have identified examples of 5 open and 5 open questions in your transcript, write an evaluation of the effectiveness of your use of questions (Approximately one paragraph for this analysis). Explain whether or not your questions were effective. How did your client respond to your questions? How would you improve the effectiveness of your questions?
      2. Identify Techniques Used: Next, identify at least 5 examples of paraphrasing, summarizing, or reflections you used (must have at least one of each: paraphrase, summary, and reflection). Again, use all caps on your transcript to identify each technique.

        For example:

Interviewer: So it’s been several weeks since you’ve been able to sleep without problems? PARAPHRASE

      1. Evaluate the Techniques: Evaluate the effectiveness of your interview technique (Approximately one paragraph for this entire section). How did your client respond to the techniques in the interview? How do you know if you were effective with these? Provide justification for your response. How could you improve your use of these?

  1. Application: Analysis and Summary
    1. Explain how the information you gathered during the interview can aid in planning treatment for your client. How can treatment of this client be more informed or more targeted based on the information you gathered (Approximately 2-3 paragraphs).
    2. Identify at least two possible ethical issues that could arise during your interview (hint: go back to your Module 1 lecture for ideas about ethical issues in interviewing).  Explain how an ethical interviewer should deal with each of these issues. (Approximately 2-3 paragraphs).

compare and contrast your chosen theory with the other theories listed above, highlighting the major similarities and differences.

Discussion1

Theoretical Perspective Reflection

In Chapter 3, you were presented with four language acquisition theories: behaviorist, active construction of a grammar, connectionist, and social interaction theories.  For this discussion, you will first select one of the theories and explain its main components in a graphic organizer.  The recommended website, Holt Interactive Graphic Organizers, offers digital graphic organizers to help you with the creation of your graphic organizer, or you can use the graphs/charts feature in Microsoft Word.  You will then compare and contrast your chosen theory with the other theories listed above, highlighting the major similarities and differences.

The graphic organizer you create for the theory you choose should include:

  • The main theorist associated with the theory
  • A summary of what the theory states
  • Evidence supporting the theory
  • Evidence against the theory

In your compare/contrast analysis of the theory, include the following:

  • Similarities to other theories
  • Differences from other theories

Refer to Chapter 3 of the text, additional resources, and your own insights.  Remember that your graphic organizer needs to contain an APA citation for any source used, including the textbook.  Your discussion post title should be the same as your chosen theory.  The body of your post should consist of your compare/contrast analysis.

Discussion 2

Supporting Second Language Learning

Our classrooms are filled with students who come from diverse backgrounds.  When we get to know our students and their families, we strengthen the home-school connection, which research has reported leads to increased student achievement.   Using information gained the textbook readings and the required article, Can Preschool Children be Taught a Second Language?, explain strategies that effectively support students who are learning a second language.  You can use the textbook andthe recommended article, Responding to Linguistic and Cultural Diversity, to support your discussion.

Your 300-350 word post should be formatted to include the following in order:

  • Three ways to support children learning a second language in the classroom
  • Two ways to support the families of children learning a second language
  • One example of a resource you can use to help plan for children learning a second language, with a summary and justification of your choice
  • One question you still have about learning a second language

Refer to Chapter 4 of the text and additional resources, and draw from your own insights.  Citations must be
