Financial Analysis and Research of Mutual Fund 32

Organize the research for your paper around the research question(s)/hypotheses listed below in the appendices. Review the APA manual and find peer-reviewed, empirical research articles and the mutual fund websites for examples of how to report the results for your mutual fund. Also ANSWER within the paper:
The SRI/BRI mutual fund reviewed is Discuss the practices employed in both types of screening process that the mutual fund has undertaken and compare the investment returns of the mutual fund to the correspondingly sized secular index funds. What are the 5-year (January 1, 2011- December 31, 2015) rates of return after expenses of your SRI or BRI fund, and did it earn as much as or more than the correspondingly sized secular index funds (e.g., S&P 500 Index {Fidelity Spartan 500 Index Fund Class Inv (FUSEX? Collect, present, analyze, and critically evaluate the financial data as it relates to an SRI/BRI FUND you have not written about in any past course during your academic career.
Your goal is to answer the following three questions:
1. Is the five-year rates of return, after expenses, from 2011 through 2015, after expenses, of screened SRI or BRI fund earn as much as or more than the correspondingly sized, unscreened, after expenses, FUSEX?
2. Are the 5-year rates of return of the SRI or BRI funds within 1% of the total returns of all correspondingly sized secular index funds (FUSEX), which postulates that investors would be willing to take a loss of at least 1% to make it worthwhile to invest with their conscience?
3. Does your fund have more than or less than 30 stocks within its portfolio, thus reflecting its level of diversification? How many stocks are invested in.
4. How many different screens does your mutual fund include, and what are they? (This should be answered in the Social Screening Research section of your paper). Categorize each of the screens as to whether they represent an example of a positive or negative screen, and discuss the implications of the choice of screening method on fund performance.
Financial Screening Research
Review the practices employed in the mutual funds screening process and compare its investment returns to the benchmarks. Collect, present, analyze, and critically evaluate financial data as it relates to an SRI/BRI FUND that you have not written about in any past course during your academic career. Consult the fund companys prospectus. State the Funds Investment Objective(s), Minimum Initial Investment, Minimum Subsequent Investment, Fees, Commission/Sales Charge, Redemption Fee, Management Fees, 12 b-1 Fee, Expense Ratio, Years of Manager in Position and experience, and if the fund has a professional investment management team. Include the Portfolio Turnover Rate from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2015, Investment Policies and Risks (e.g., market, business, financial, and currency risk), any Unusual Problems/Risks (e.g., legal, ethical, management), services provided by the fund, share classes and types, asset allocation by sector, the funds toll-free telephone number, and how you obtained a copy of the funds prospectus.
Social Screening Research
Review the practices employed in the mutual funds screening process and answer how many different screens does your mutual fund include, and what are they? Categorize each of the screens as to whether they represent an example of a positive or negative screen, and discuss the implications of the choice of screening method on fund performance. What problem does your fund solve for? What is the purpose for your fund? How does your fund answer these issues?

To do so, GO to http://finance.yahoo.com/q?sFUSEX, CHARTS Interactive, and Comparison tab. Enter your fund, go to custom date range symbol and punch in dates of January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2015, and add the DOW or Nasdaq depending on the size of your fund.
Identify any assumptions of statistical tests and address any violation of those assumptions.
Make decisions based on the results of the statistical analysis. For example, are the results statistically significant? Include relevant test statistic and p values.
See the APA manual regarding how to present results in text, tables, and figures.
Present sufficient information so the reader can make an independent judgment regarding interpretation.

Take care to avoid drawing conclusions beyond what can be interpreted directly from the study results.]
DELETE THE FOLLOWING (?): Implications, Recommendations, and Conclusions
[Begin the discussion with a brief review of the problem statement, purpose, method, limitations, and ethical dimensions, and conclude the introduction with a brief overview of the fund.]
Implications
[Discuss each research question and (when appropriate) hypothesis individually, and draw logical conclusions. Note: support all conclusions with the research findings and avoid drawing conclusions that are beyond the scope of your results. Identify what already exists in the cities of Berlin and Munich in your area of expertise. In which points are the cities strong and where are they weak? What has been done in other European and international cities?

My class is called \’Documentary and Street Photography\’.
The name of the project is \’Smart City / Surveillance State / Innovation\’
I put \’Business Plan\’ as type of service because it is the most similar to \’Concept\’ that I need for my project.

Situation and Project:
According to the United Nations, by the year of 2050, 70% of the worlds population will be living in urban areas. So what will the city of the future look like? These are some of the questions that dominate our conception of The City 2.0: How will we transport ourselves? Where will we grow our food? How will we power our homes, our offices, our grids? What will happen to the natural world?

Imagine you are a team of individual consultants in a big consulting company that is specialized on improving cities to become smart cities. Both German cities Berlin and Munich have just put out a competition for a project to improve life in each city to become a smarter living space and city. Your team absolutely wants to win the competition but you obviously cannot address all needs of the city. At the same time, both cities and your companies are under attack from the activist group The Surveillance Camera Players for creating surveillance states and projects with your consulting projects, infringing on privacy and the liberty of movement. You have a problem: you want to win the competition but also dont want to get under fire by the activists, as that would not get you the project. Both cities are funding your initial research travel to Berlin and Munich and you will have to submit a report once you are back from travel.
How would you tackle the project?

The Concept should include:
1. Build your team (Elizaveta Aleksandrova, Katrin Mkrtychan, Nika Corak) and state which consulting firm you belong to (cannot be fictional) Define what the smart city means to your company and team and what your area of expertise is (green spaces, waste management, traffic flow, energy saving architecture/transportation, technologies and software that improve life, etc.)
2. Identify what already exists in the cities of Berlin and Munich in your area of expertise. In which points are the cities strong and where are they weak? What has been done in other European and international cities?

Do you believe that history can be objective (unbiased)? Why or why not?

Do you believe that history can be objective (unbiased)? Why or why not? What factors come into play? Why do you think that college students are required to study history in order to graduate? Should they be required to study history? Explain. What, if any, value do you think that the study of history has? Explain. Include specific details and examples in your answer.

I added the professors instructions!

Where you must develop a thesis statement or topic sentence and give a complete answer with details and examples (evidence). Proofread before submittingdo NOT have grammatical, punctuation, or other proofreading errors in your post. Content is most important to the calculation of your grade, but organization and proper writing also matter. Do NOT use text speak or informal language in these. Write as you would for a term paper.
Students may divide the post into different sections to answer the different questions if they wish.
CRITERIA:
Content:
Excellent (A)An A post clearly answers all of the topic prompt questions. The post includes supporting details and examples as well as explanations of ideas. The post demonstrates not only mastery of the course material, but shows thought and critical thinking as well. All questions are answered correctly/argued effectively.
Competent (B or C)A B or C post answers all of the topic prompt questions. It includes some details, examples, and explanations, though not as many and these are not as refined as in an A post. This post demonstrates less mastery of the course materials, but still shows proficiency with the material. Ideas are clear and supported. All questions are answered correctly/argued adequately.
Poor (D)A D post might address some but not all of the questions or might answer all of the questions in a very shallow way. It lacks detail and explanation. Questions might be either inadequately or incorrectly answered, but an effort has been made.
Unacceptable (F)An F post does not answer the topic questions or answers them in an inaccurate or generic way.
Grammar:
ExcellentAn A post contains few or no errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Proper conventions are followed with regard to capitalization. Post contains no text-speak and is written in academic style. Proofreading has been done.
CompetentA B or C post contains an error or two in grammar, punctuation, capitalization, or spelling. It might inadvertently have informal language (non-academic language) in it. But, the writing of the post remains clear enough to effectively present arguments and ideas.
PoorA D post contains several errors in grammar, punctuation, capitalization, or spelling. It needs further proofreading. The writing might be poor enough that it is difficult, but not impossible, to follow the arguments being made.
UnacceptableAn F post contains many proofreading errors. The writing is so poor that the ideas and arguments are impossible to follow.
Organization:
ExcellentAn A post is well organized either as a mini-essay (or is divided into sections to deal with the different questions). It is clear throughout the post what questions are being answered. The student presents and supports larger ideas/theses in a logical and coherent manner.
CompetentA B or C post is written as a mini essay (or divided into topical sections) and progresses in a clear, coherent manner. It is evident what question is being answered at any given point in the post. Student has main ideas and these are supported, though in less detail than in an A post.
PoorA D essay lacks clear organization but still manages to address the topic questions in a way that is understandable.
UnacceptableThe F essay lacks clear organization and that lack of organization causes a lack of clarity.
