Write a research paper outlining the distinctions between millennial and Gen Z design.
As a preliminary approach to Research in a Design context, the document should demonstrate competences about methods of research and about literature search and critical review. Present a report in the form of an Essay or Research Project.
ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION:
The document must include the following sections:
Introduction
● Description of the project context, presentation of the research topic in detail and the motivation to research it. The topic and the specific problem that the research is going to address.
● Research objectives clearly identified. In the conclusion of the document, reflect on how these research objectives are expected to be accomplished through the developed research.
Literature Review
● Presentation of the “state of the art” in the relevant areas of the project, referring and comparing the existent studies, explaining their advantages and disadvantages.
● This is a core section of this assignment. Thus, at this stage, the existing gaps that have already been identified in the literature must be pinpointed, i.e., the areas where there is a need to develop research in order to increase knowledge. These gaps motivate your research objectives.
Methodology
● Presentation of the methodology used to develop your project. Organise this section in two parts.
● In the first part, present an analysis of existing methods and different approaches in the area you are researching, sustained by literature (for example, qualitative study, design science research, etc.). Contrast advantages, disadvantages of the methods and clearly justify the choice made regarding the methodology chosen for the project.
● In the second part specify the techniques and tools used to collect and analyse the data necessary to respond to the research problem. Explore visual research techniques and demonstrate your research practice.
Conclusions / Findings
● Reflect about the learning path throughout the unit, demonstrating the relationships or contributions to the Applied Design Project unit, if applicable.
