Even more than with other kinds of paper, this first option asks for some care and modesty in your range of analysis and in the conclusions that you draw from it. •Second, your paper might connect mass-media texts to their industry context (e.g., “Hannah Montana demonstrates how media conglomerates construct and capture ‘tween’ audience”; “Music supervisors in film and television challenge and confirm traditional patterns of control in the recording industry”; “The online Lost Experience represents an only partly successful effort to add the value of interactivity to traditional television narrative”; “Game of Thrones exemplifies key strategies of pay-TV blockbuster-building”). •Your paper might also explore another kind of problem in the mass entertainment media; if your interests fall outside these first two options, you can propose an alternative. For any option, your topic might be contemporary or historical, in film or television or another media; creative topic-generation might make things more interesting!
