The alternative project will be to do a report on doing business in a country that begins with either the first or last letter in your first or last names. For example, if your name was Ida Smith, you could choose Italy, Argentina, Spain, or Honduras. You must meaningful use and cite (in APA style) at least 20 articles from the e-library on this. Ten of these should be from the 2015-2016 period. Your focuses should include sections on cultural, legal, economic, and other dimensions that you feel are germane to doing business in that country. It would be acceptable to use examples of businesses operating there. You will be required to discuss your research plan with Lucy Heckman of the library (who is available online) and explain to me how she has helped guide your work. Phone her at (718)-990-6571. Your report, including citations, should be at least 4000 words long. This project should be completed by April 15th.
I would suggest the country section in the database Mergent Online. You need to go to the Library page (www.stjohns.edu, then select Libraries). When you get to this page go to Databases A to Z and select Mergent Online–on the right side of the page you will see a “country information section,” scroll down to Portugal and you will get facts and figures about it. You can also go to ABI/INFORM and do searches about Portugal (e.g. Portugal and culture; Portugal and government, etc.)
