For this paper, you must thoroughly address each of these questions in order to be eligible to receive credit.
a. Research an event that has been in the news over the past 5 years that involves a conflict. Some examples might be conflicts
between countries, sports-related conflicts, contract disputes, and more! You may (in most cases) have to research this event over time, as all the information about this conflict may not be contained in one news story. If it is an event that just happened and there is no end, dont worry! You can still write the paper.
b. Please include the news story with your paper. You can either scan it, attach it, or copy/paste it.
c. Be sure to properly cite the credible source from which you obtained the news story. It MUST be a credible source (no Wikipedia, perezhilton.com, etc.!) Please feel free to email me if you would like to have your source approved.
d. Give an accurate summary of the conflict, based on the news story (1-2 paragraphs is all you will need).
e. What type of conflict is this? It is possible that this started out as one type of conflict and escalated/morphed into another type or it can be a blend of 2 types of conflict (value-policy, etc.).
f. Explain the type of conflict you have identified and explain why you feel its this type of conflict.
g. Using credible sources other than the textbook or notes, research the type of conflict you claim this situation is. This is a way to expand your learning beyond what I provide you in the lecture and what the authors of the textbook teach you. Show me that you’ve learned something else about this!
h. Utilize your research (from textbook, notes and if you chose to also use an outside source) about the type of conflict to describe this type of conflict and back-up your claim.
i. If this conflict was resolved, based on your notes and the textbook what type of management style was used?
j. If this conflict was NOT resolved, describe the type of management style you feel should be used to resolve it.
k. Research the management style with which you claim this situation was resolved.
l. Using credible sources other than your textbook or notes, research the management style with which you claim this situation was resolved. And again – This is a way to expand your learning beyond what I provide you in the lecture and what the authors of the textbook teach you. Show me that youve learned something else about this!
m. Utilize your research (from textbook, notes and if you chose to also use an outside source) about the management style to describe it and back-up your claim.
Other Requirements:
a. You must type this in Microsoft Word.
b. The paper must be 3 1/2 4 1/2 pages (No more and no less), double-spaced, using 12 point font.
c. The paper must be free of spelling and grammatical errors. Spelling/Grammar check is not enough. My recommendation is
to visit the writing center (they have an email service, too!).
d. Cite your sources utilizing MLA Format. You MUST use parenthetical citations AND include a works cited/bibliography page.
