Purpose of this assessment
The purpose of this assessment is to demonstrate an understanding how understand and apply skills and theories learnt about the people in organisation and applied practical examples to demonstrate skills learnt and understanding of the concepts.
Scenario The assessment of this module is in 3parts:

Assignment 1: (LO1.1, LO1.2 & LO1.3 LO1.4) Undertake a recruitment and Selection process

Assignment 2: (LO2.1 – LO2.4) Identifying and assessing effective leadership styles in different contexts to motivate staff to high performance.

Assignment 3: LO3.1, 3.2, 3.3, & 4.1, 4.2, 4.3) This assignment is in two parts: (i) Understanding management of effective team work (ii) Explain the performance management process and how you would go about identifying and planning development needs

Task 1
Task 1: Undertake a Recruitment and Selection process
You have been tasked by the HR manager of a well-known, established manufacturing and retail business is looking to grow its marketing team with the appointment of a Marketing Manager. You need to prepare a full Recruitment and selection process, including the relevant documents and outline the key stages of the recruitment process. You need to start by identifying and producing the relevant documentation and determine the recruitment and selection process. Explain how you would generate a pool of candidates, what strategy you would use to generate applicants and how you would filter applicants for testing and selection. Having completed the preparation, you need to undertake a role play exercise to test the effectiveness of the procedure with your team. As part of your personal development, review your experience and contribution to this exercise.
Prepare a presentation of the process and any critique you may have about its effectiveness. Please ensure that you have identified key legal and regulatory issues. Undertake a selection process within your group and comment on the process.

Task 2: Identifying and assessing effective leadership styles in different contexts to motivate staff to high performance.

Leadership scenario: The current level of motivation and performance of the organisation is well below expectations, morale is low and the staff lack clear direction as to the objectives and strategy of the organisation. As a senior manager, you have been asked to undertake a review of current management practices in terms of motivating staff to be more committed and enthusiastic about organisational aims and improving performance. It is clear to you that staff lack a clear vision of organisation mission.

You have decided to determine whether the managers are affective in providing sound leadership and motivation to help achieve desired outcomes. One of your first tasks is to identify which leadership characteristics and style would best suit the organisations and staff needs, starting with a comparison of leadership style applied in different organisations so that you can identify relevant characteristics. You decided to undertake a critical analysis of leadership characteristics and styles, you make a proposal to management about which particular style of leadership would be most effective to implement. Your analysis will also include a review of motivation theories in order to determine which leadership style would have a positive impact on staff motivation.

Task 3: Effective Team-working and assessing development needs.

Team working is an essential part of organisational operations as tasks become increasingly complex and cannot be undertaken on an individual basis. Therefore it is important to understand group dynamics and how to develop effective teams. Referring to the group work you undertook for task one, explain the benefits of teamwork and the resolution of any conflict that may have occurred.

In order to maintain effective organisational performance, it is important to ensure that staff have the necessary skills and competencies to achieve organisational goals. Continuous skills development is therefore important. Explain how you would identify and develop a plan for staff..
