Survey Paper Guidelines
Topics (pick one):
1. Routing in Satellite Networks.
2. Routing in Wireless Ad hoc Networks.
3. Intra- (or Inter-) Vehicular Networks.
4. (any other topic, with the instructor’s prior approval)
You are required to follow an IEEE-style paper structure as follows:
Title (name, affiliation and email address of the author)
Abstract (not to exceed 250 words, briefly states the summary contents of your
paper, and its
principal conclusion, if applicable)
I. Introduction (Introduction of problem and a very brief outline of available
solutions; end this
section by stating how the paper is organized …e.g. “Section
II introduces .., Section III
discusses .., …, Section ? Concludes the paper”).
II. <your sections and/or subsections here, starting with section name>
..
?? Conclusion (this is the last numbered section, don’t be afraid to draw your
own conclusions).
References (check any IEEE paper for the paper reference style).
Important Guidelines:
1. You must provide proper citations when referring to other people’s work.
2. You may not quote any text verbatim.
3. You may use figures from the original papers provided you cite the paper
correctly in
the caption.
4. You must use at least 6 original sources – IEEE or ACM Conference Proceedings
or
Archival Journals. Please be aware that though you may peruse magazines such as
the
IEEE Spectrum or the IEEE Communications Magazine, or Dr. Dobbs Journal, these
do
not count towards the 6 minimum original sources required. Use web-only
references
very sparingly and only if they are reputable technical sources. And
no, Wikipedia does
not qualify.
5. Your document must be word-processed and proof-read to be as error-free as
possible.
Also ensure that the manuscript reads well.
6. Use an 11 point ‘Times’ or ‘Times New Roman’ font, in a single column format.
7. The page limit is 10 pages, including figures and references; Your paper
should not be
any shorter than 6 US letter-size pages. Use a 1 inch margin all
around, number the
pages.
8. Upload a ps or pdf copy only. No docx files please! You may use LaTeX to
wordprocess your document. But please generate either a ps or pdf file for
submission.
