Society is heterogeneous in nature. It has people of diverse religions, social backgrounds, genders and ethnicities. All this groups play a significant role in the business world. This is because they are all part of the wider network of suppliers and receiver of services and goods that business organizations offer. Thus, diversity is a critical element in the determination of company profitability (Konrad, 2006). This is because equality helps in sustaining of market success of a company.

The blueberry company has to recognize the essence of diversity within its organization. This is because diversity is necessary for the organizational survival in the business competitive multicultural setting. Provision of high quality services and goods requires a collectivity of skills (Dally, 2008). The Blueberry Company will achieve this through employing diverse personnel. These people will bring in a pool of diverse talents that will benefit the organization.

Lack of diversity is a problem because it has negative consequences on an organization. This is because it leads to stagnation of an organization. A homogeneous workforce is inflexible and tends to give ideas that lack inspiration. Employees from a minority group working in this organization that lack diversity may get feelings of discrimination. Further, as the Blueberry Company fails to diversify its workforce it is inviting legal problems. This is because the government has put in place statutes that demand equal rights to employment of members of the state.

To address the problem of lack of diversity in the Blueberry Company, it is vital to know the causes of this problem. Lack of diversity results from rigidity of the employment criteria used in the recruitment process. This is where the policies of an organization limit on the personnel that an organization hires (Dally, 2008). The management of Blueberry Company should have an all inclusive policy in recruitment. The enforcement of this policy during the recruitment process will assist in bring in diversity at the work place.

To bring diversity at Blueberry Company, the management will have to reflect on equal consideration for diverse groups. The human resource department of this organization has to look at the organization in the eyes of others. This strategy will be critical in bringing in cultural diversity, capability diversity and gender diversity in this organization. Diversity has numerous of benefits in an organization and tapping these benefits is essential.

The management should understand that gender diversity is not about including female employees in the organization. It is bringing on board new perspective that can only be brought forward by women. In addition, by employing without gender discrimination the Blueberry company will promote professionalism in the organization (Konrad, 2006). This will earn the organization a good image and customer loyalty. Further, the positivity of the organization will attract a large number of job applicants, which will give, the management a wider pool of potential employees.

Age diversity and cultural diversity at the work place bring creativity. The diverse groups are able to learn from each other and come up with innovative ideas. This provides solution to situations that arise in the organization. The organization benefits from effective ways of executing of solution. This contributes to expansion and growth of the organization. Moreover, different skill set allow the level of specialization and efficiency in the workplace.

A diverse workforce easily adapt to changes and a new way of operation. This is because the level of motivation and perspective of these employees is different. However, diverse groups of people at workplace require proper management of conflict (Konrad, 2006).  This is because before achieving of cohesion the people can easily misunderstand each other. However, with proper training and group integration this problem is manageable.

Apart from diversity in terms of workforce, there is another form of diversity (provision of goods and services that a company would employ. Blueberry Company should ensure diversification of products. This will help the company to perform well even in times of intense competition (Konrad, 2006). Diversification of products ensures positive performance of a business. This is because the business is able gain a considerable competitive advantage. Through diversification, a business is able to gain power via intangible resources. In the case of Blueberry Company, it is possible to utilize market power. This would be, for the purpose of reducing any risks arising in the market, and using the opportunity to find low-cost inputs (Dally, 2008). Diversification aids control of output markets thus; ensuring proper performance.  An evidence of the correlation between geographical plus product diversification suggests indicate greater performance (Konrad, 2006).  However, the extent of diversification required need monitoring. This is because diversification that exceeds a certain level is likely to cause problems of management. Governance costs goes beyond certain limits causing the business to suffer in terms of performance.  High costs of management cause problems in performance due to the evident inefficiency issues, as the business operates.

In conclusion, diversity is essential in the Blueberry Company. The company embracing of diversity is critical to the company’s realization of its objective. Diversity is usable as a tool by management to build a positive image for the company (Dally, 2008). Further, through diversity the quality of goods and services of this company will improve. This will assist in expansion of the company’s market which will lead to an increase in the company’s profits. Both workforce and product/ service diversity is beneficial in the organization because of the aspect of good performance (Dally, 2008). Corporations should incorporate both aspects of diversity to improve their performance. As evident various researches, there is a level of diversity that a company is not to exceed without experiencing management problems (Konrad, 2006). The management problems adversely affect business operations making the company uncompetitive in a market situation.

I would advice Lennox to incorporate appropriate techniques in order to resolve the issue of diversity. For example, Lennox should employ both forms of diversity in order to improve performance of the company. However, since it is evident that diversity beyond certain levels can be detrimental to business operations, Lennox should ensure a balanced level of product/service and workforce diversity (Konrad, 2006). Solution to the issue of “lack of diversity” is also possible through incorporation of proper management techniques, for example, creating a workforce that is familiar with the issue of diversity. Lennox should ensure products and services that meet the requirements of consumers. This will be possible if the company is innovative enough to offer unique services or products (Dally, 2008).  Lennox should apply strategic management techniques for laying down plans that are fundamental for resolving the diversity issue (Konrad, 2006).
