In order to do this you need to understand the theories and the concepts in the reading material. Once you have read the material, use your critical skills to analyze aboriginal joking. You are not listing theories or re-wording concepts or describing what joking is or means. What you are doing is this:
Discuss the different functions of joking. Don’t simply reiterate the course material, we’ve already read it. Discuss the theories that can be applied to aboriginal joking how and discuss why the theory applies. Integrate the readings into your own ideas about all of the above.
Keep in mind that an introduction and conclusion are required.

- Comedy as serious: 5 marks.
- Analysis of joke: 4 marks.
- Classical theories: 3 marks.
- Integration, style: 3 marks.
