The Learning Resources for this week provide an overview of transformations, such as translations, rotations, and reflections, and the ways that these concepts relate to the development of spatial sense. For this week’s Discussion, you will conduct an online search to uncover more information about transformations and to discover technology tools that will help students to build an understanding of these concepts on the coordinate plane.

You will complete an activity for this Discussion known as a “jigsaw.” The idea is that just as individual pieces complete a jigsaw puzzle, each individual’s contribution to the Discussion adds to the entire group’s understanding and learning.

To prepare:

• Investigate one type of transformation based on your assigned group below

• Visit the Walden Library and other online resources to gather more information about your assigned transformation. Find at least one scholarly article or website to share with colleagues. Reflect on the insights you gained while examining this resource. The resource must be less than 5 years old.
• Look for a technology tool to use with students to explore your type of transformation on the coordinate plane.
• Consider how learning experiences that focus on transformations may help your students develop spatial sense.

By Day 3 of Week 7:

• Post a brief summary of your selected article or website and explain the insights you gained by examining this resource. Then, explain how you could use a technology tool with your students to explore your type of transformation on the coordinate plane. Explain how learning experiences that focus on transformations will help your students develop spatial sense. Identify the type of transformation you were assigned in the subject line of your posting. In the body of your post, provide the link(s) or cite the resources that informed your post.
