Military History – World War Two:
Approaching immediately two decades after the last great worldwide conflict, it is said that the Second World War was mainly the most widespread and deadliest combat in history. It involved more than 30 nations and automatically resulted in the deaths of more than 50 million civilian and military deaths. It was thus in July 9, 1941 that the victory program was initiated through the Roosevelt’s memorandum. The main aim of this top secret document was to accomplish three vital elements. The first task was to prepare significant and essential recommendations on how to immediately assemble the American industries for combat. The second aim of the task was to make clear recommendations on how the armed forces would be structured to the level that would enable them fight their potential enemies who were mainly the Japan and Germany. The last and very important aim was to offer very tactical and strategic procedures for the defeat of the said potential threats (Sherwood, 1948).
The task was hence considered monumental, and the finished document would otherwise be of very great importance. Analysts suggest that it is wise for America to temporarily review the global situation that led to Wedemeyer’s assignment, in order to understand critically the significance of the Victory Program (Forest, 1965). In was in January 1941 when the United States was noted to be indomitable to oblige with other nations specifically the Great Britain which was at the time in total combat with Germany, mainly with an intention of implementing a joint significant way to defeating the Germans. Sadly enough it is during this event that the US was drawn into the combat.
