Summarize the Weathering Hypothesis and define “allostatic load.” Summarize how the hypothesis is applied to disparities in pregnancy, childbirth, and early life. Explain epigenetics, heritability, and quantitative genetics, and gene-environment interactions. Discuss how each biological process (epigenetics, heritability, gene-environment interactions) could be a mechanism for the Weathering Hypothesis. Conclude on the plausibility of Geronimus’ hypothesis with supporting reasons.
