Write a paper about how the EEOC chooses to enforce the law. Identify its authority, show how it targets a company or organization and then the administrative steps it goes through to get the job done.

Assignment Question

Your paper should be 6-8 pages long, double-spaced. Here are some general guidelines. TOPIC – write a paper about how the EEOC chooses to enforce the law. Identify its authority, show how it targets a company or organization and then the administrative steps it goes through to get the job done.

1. Write an introduction, which clearly identifies the topic of your paper and the issues which you seek to illuminate. The introduction should include the thesis or basis of your paper, and a very preliminary overview of the evidence you will use to support it. Finally, the introduction should include a statement that identifies what your paper contributes to our understanding of administrative law (in other words, why is the topic of your report important?).

2. The body of your report should be dedicated to support your thesis statement with claims gleaned from your research (into what others have written on the topic; data that you have gathered), readings from the course text, discussion boards, and/or case law, interviews, law review articles. Cite your references at the end of your report. Include at least 5 references to support the thesis of your paper.

3. Conclude your report by recapitulating your thesis and explaining in greater detail the significance of your findings. If you would like, include in your conclusion some questions or claims about the topic and/or specific which you’ve written. If you believe more research needs to be done on your topic, be specific about what kind of research and how you think it ought to be done. I strongly recommend that you proofread your paper several times to ensure that you have no spelling, grammar or punctuation errors and to ensure that your paper flows well and is organized.

How does the past inform the present experiences of women in the U.S.? What is solidarity? What is autonomy? How are they connected? What does women’s liberation mean? Is there one definition? Why or why not?

Assignment Question

Your final essay will allow you to further explore intersectionality. Select two marginalized identities that women can hold and conduct further research that explores the experiences of women who belong to this community. For example, you may choose to focus on Black trans women, Chinese immigrant women, or queer disabled women. Intersectional identities can include race, age, gender identity, ethnicity, gender expression, class, religion, disability status, sexual identity, and immigration status. You may look at an historic event or more current experiences that illustrate the way that intersectional identities impact women’s lives. Once you have decided on your intersectional focus, respond to one of our course’s essential questions to focus your analysis, shape your thesis, and guide your essay: How is gender socially constructed and systemically enforced? How do we unlearn harmful ways of thinking, such as racism and transphobia? How does the past inform the present experiences of women in the U.S.? What is solidarity? What is autonomy? How are they connected? What does women’s liberation mean? Is there one definition? Why or why not?

Your research must include at least three sources, of which at least one must be an academic source/scholarly article taken from the COA library database or other academic online sources. Depending on which intersectional identities you choose, you may have difficulty finding more academic sources which is why we need to look to other sources of knowledge that can help us understand and honor these lived experiences. Additional sources can include poetry, film, an interview of a member of that group, social media posts, music or podcasts.

If you are a member of the group of women you choose to focus on, I encourage you to speak to your own experiences as well. Some of the strongest essays students have submitted have included interviews with the women in their families who can attest to gender expectations and their experiences both in their home countries and in the U.S. So you have a lot of options even though sources may be limited or require some time to conduct research. I am happy to help you narrow down your focus and find sources so reach out if you would like support with getting started. Your final paper must include: An introduction, body, and conclusion Thesis: a focus on two intersectional identities and also respond to one of our essential questions Reference at least 3 sources (at least one must be an academic source – use COA library database/or other academic online sources)

Describe the correlation (variables involved and the relationship). State whether this is a positive or negative correlation, and explain your reasoning. State whether you think the article gives any sense of the strength of the correlation, and if so, describe the strength of the correlation, and explain your reasoning.

Assignment Question

Find a current events news report or article that discusses some type of correlation. For your chosen article, include the following in your post’s write-up: In your own words, briefly summarize the report or article and its conclusions about the correlation. Your “summary” of the source material is NOT to be “copied-and-pasted” from source material. Describe the correlation (variables involved and the relationship). State whether this is a positive or negative correlation, and explain your reasoning. State whether you think the article gives any sense of the strength of the correlation, and if so, describe the strength of the correlation, and explain your reasoning. State whether you think the article suggests the correlation reflects any underlying causality, and explain your reasoning. State whether you think this is a “real” correlation or a “spurious” correlation, and explain your reasoning.

Note: A “spurious” correlation implies that two variables are correlated, when, in reality, they are not.

See https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-27537142Links to an external site. or www.tylervigen.comLinks to an external site. for examples of spurious correlations, but DO NOT USE THESE FOR YOUR POST.

Note: In the world of “stats” information, a “current” topic should be as “current” as possible.

For this course, “current events news report or article” is defined as “published less than five (5) years ago” and no older. If your chosen topic is one that involves rapidly changing information, your “current events news report or article” should be less than two years old. If you can’t find a publication date, find a different “current events news report or article” item. Posts dealing with articles that are too “dated” (five years or older) will receive a score of 0. Your selected “current events news report or article” must be an actual news report or article. Do NOT select a statistics report or abstract, a “tutorial” used to explain the meaning of “statistics” terms, an excerpt, or an “executive summary” type of item. Do NOT use the same article **OR** the same topic as already posted about by a classmate for this assignment. Posts with duplicated articles or topics will receive a score of 0 for the later posts. Provide a link to the news report or article, so that others can read it also and so that your teacher can compare your write-up to your source material. Posts without a working link will receive a score of 0. ALWAYS check the link you’ve provided in your post – and check it in Canvas, after you’ve made your post – to be sure it works! Some students in the past have either pasted incomplete URLs into their posts, or included a link which only worked for paid subscribers or was otherwise blocked behind a pay wall.)
